Search
Engine Optimization is the key to having
high visitors' traffic on your site. SEO
is making your site friendly to the search
engines so that they index it and list
it as a relevant search when specific information
is sought. All
search engines are filtering out low-relevance
sites, SEO is critical to building value.
Optimizing
your web site is essential for success on the
internet. Attracting traffic from search
engine activity is the most cost-effective
long-term strategy. Some sites are more easily
optimized than others, this
is as much an art as it is skill. Some
tips for Search Engine Optimization include
. . .
1. Keyword choice
The first step to optimization is keyword research.
The keywords you choose should apply to the theme
of your web site and should match the word phrases
that people actually type when searching for information.
2. Content optimization
The content of your site should be updated to reflect
the chosen keywords. This may include changes to
the meta tags, page titles and text headings, or
it could involve rewriting content and reorganizing
the web site's structure. You should also try to
fill in new relevant content periodically.
3. Keyword density
Write approximately 200-250 words of visible text
per page based on your chosen keywords. This is
a crucial component to high rankings and a successful
web site. The optimal number of times to use the
keywords will vary by search engine, the number
of words on your page, and also by how well the
text reads to a person. Be ware that search engines
try to imitate human behavior and cannot be fooled
by senseless compilation of words!
4. Create Title tags
Title tags are critical because they are given a
lot of weight. You must put your keyword phrases
into this tag and not waste space with extra words.
The Title Tag should reflect exactly what your
page is about, using the keyword phrases people
might be using at a search engine to find your
company. Marketing Article reprint
5. Create Meta tags
Meta tags have some value, though much less weight
than the title tags. The Meta Description tag should
use your keywords and describe your site. The information
in this tag appears under your Title in the search
engine results pages, especially if the keyword
phrase that was searched upon in the engine appears
in your tag.
The Meta Keyword tag is not as important as
the Meta Description tag. Contrary to what
many people believe, what you place in the
keyword tag will have very little effect on
Google.
6. Link exchange
Link popularity is extremely important for your optimization
process. A link development campaign should be
done to acquire quality incoming links to your
web site.
7. Web Directories
Try getting your site listed in directories. Get
listed in the correct category in DMOZ and others
for long-term success.
