The Internet is a vast proven technology available to almost everyone on the planet and growing.   The Internet is a nearly level playing field where a single person can reach millions, and sell them something.   I think of web sites as "properties", like real estate if you select a good location (domain), provide some labor to fix it up(web site), and plant a For Sale sign in the yard (marketing), they will come, and buy.
